Social media of the festival
Why is it important to talk about human rights?
Talking about human rights is essential because these rights are the foundation of dignity, justice and equality for every person. Awareness and protection of human rights helps us to face discrimination, injustice and suppression of freedoms, which are problems that still exist around the world. Discussion of human rights fosters empathy, broadens awareness of global and local challenges, and inspires active involvement in their protection. Without open dialogue and education on this topic, we risk overlooking the injustices that undermine the core values of a free society.
About festival
The Human Rights Festival in Karviná will take place in the spring of 2025 and its aim is to raise awareness of human rights, celebrate them and ensure that everyone in Karviná knows their important concepts.
The festival will offer a varied program: in addition to panel discussions, academic lectures and workshops, you can look forward to an exhibition of human rights paintings, fun interactive games, workshops at secondary schools and a run for human rights. In addition, there will be a screening of human rights films that will approach problems from other countries and appear on important topics of practice.
We thank the US Embassy in the Czech Republic for sponsoring these important events and the University of Silesia in Karviná for providing the space.
